These are rocky areas Natural England now expect moorland managers to cut with machinery. It smashes machinery and even the best operators will find it extremely difficult if not impossible. We now have swathes of unburnable, 4ft high degenerative heather that we cannot put fire breaks in and will be impossible to put out in dry wildfire season.
